Under the general direction of the Battalion Chief, the Lieutenant serves as a company officer, supervising a crew of Firefighters and an Engineer assigned to a specific fire station on a specific shift. Lieutenants supervise the crew and station apparatus dispatched to emergency scenes; including fires, medical calls, auto accidents, hazardous materials incidents, etc. Lieutenants serve in the capacity of incident commander at emergency incidents, until relieved by an appropriate officer.
*May be designated Sr. Lieutenant.
*Meet the qualifications for Georgia Firefighter (State Certified).
*5-7 years of experience in the field or equivalent.
*Fire Officer I training.
* Hazardous Materials Technician.
* Fire Instructor I or achieve within 12 months or hiring.
*NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS,700, and IS-800.
